How we operate

Personal visit
Before we start looking after your pets, we'll arrange a personal visit with you so you can meet us face to face and we can meet your pets and you can talk through your requirements.

We understand you have hectic schedules, so we are very flexible about the times we can arrange this visit to fit in easily with your diary.

Pet diary
When we are caring for your pets, we will complete a pet diary to keep you up to date with what your pets have been up to while you were away.  This is a great way for you to feel involved, especially if you're working long hours and your dog had a fun day out in the park.  The pet diary is available online, so if you're on holiday or at work simply log onto the internet and you will see pictures of your pet and read what he or she got up to.

It's the little things that count
What sets Walk the Dog apart from all the rest is our knowledge and expertise in animal care, management, behaviour and first aid.  We provide clients with regular newsletters, full of training hints and tips, game and recipe ideas, plus details of all our latest news.  To read our latest newsletter click here.  We operate a lending library where clients can choose from a range of excellent books on animal care, management and behaviour.  We send regular advice out to clients on how to deal with extreme weather conditions to ensuring your pet stays safe at Christmas.  We hold regular local events for our clients and hold national competitions helping raise thousands of pounds for charity.  And, because we have our very own canine behaviour expert, Hanne Grice helps our clients with any questions they may have about problem behaviours.

Peace of mind
Walk the Dog takes security and the safety of your pet seriously. We are fully insured, police checked and certified in Animal First Aid.  The team undergo regular training in canine communication and animal management under the mentoring of Hanne Grice, our certified canine behaviour specialist.  All our clients keys are held in a safe whilst your pets are in our care.
We can hold onto your spare keys if you prefer, once you have returned from holiday in case of any emergencies, or if you need someone to check your home if you are out all day.

Award winning services
We are delighted that Walk the Dog in association with Hanne Grice, has received the Special Merit award from the National Association of Registered Petsitters for 2007, 2008 and 2009.  This award is in recognition for our outstanding services.  We also won the title of 'Most Promising Business' at the recent Dacorum Business Excellence Awards, which celebrates businesses and individuals that have made a positive impact on the local community.
